Another busy summer in the books…..

The Easthills have been busy recording new material this summer at The Pop Machine recording studio in Indianapolis. The band has also played a number of select shows and festivals with the likes of the Old 97′s, Rusted Root, The Why Store, Mitch Ryder and Jackyl among others.

“Our current focus is on creating and the occasional show here and there,” said Will Barada. “We’re excited to try a different direction in the recording process and see what we come up with.” There are no details at this time on the release of new material but the good news is that the creative process has begun.

The Easthills unveil new music video for “Georgia Pine”

Indiana based rock band The Easthills released a new music video for the song “Georgia Pine”, the latest single from their critically acclaimed new album Fear and Temptation. They premiered the video at Fountain Square Brewing Company in downtown Indianapolis and celebrated with a Georgia Pine themed and tapped specialty beer and an acoustic set of tunes to a packed house. The video also made its public premiere on IndyStar.com and the band’s official You Tube page: https://youtu.be/A2l26HWkvxw

The video was filmed in various locations in Indianapolis. “We are thrilled with the new video for Georgia Pine”, said Hank Campbell, singer and guitarist in The Easthills. “The concept was completely conceived by Tim and Paul and all we did was wait on the final version. It was interesting to see someone else’s take and visual storyline. Just a real cool concept and super pro video.”

The Easthills round out 2016 and look forward to 5th Anniversary

The Easthills were busy in 2016 with the release of their latest album “Fear and Temptation” and dates across the Midwest. The album saw the release of several singles, videos and critical and public praise for the album.

The band performed to a sold out crowd at their February 2016 headlining show with Miles Nielsen supporting. They pushed thru the year playing shows across the Midwest supporting the likes of Robby Krieger of The Doors, Candlebox, Soul Asylum, Lita Ford, Melodime, The Steepwater Band, Cracker, Davy Knowles and rocked a sold out crowd of 5,000+ opening for Grand Funk Railroad in Dayton.

In September, The Easthills were thrilled to welcome Doug Gillard (of Guided By Voices and Nada Surf) to the stage at MidPoint Music Festival in Cincinnati for a performance of “Mothers & Fools“, just one of the songs Doug performs on from “Fear and Temptation”.

In 2017, The Easthills will celebrate their 5th anniversary with a special convert event. More information on that soon.

TIP OF THE HAT: Favorite Song by an Artist we’ve Opened for…..

300c9464e35392faee4f55540adc7513This is The Easthills TIP OF THE HAT blog. A place where the band salutes the bands they have been fortunate enough to open for, share the stage with or just want to try and force upon their own fans.

Question to the band: What is your favorite song by a band or artist The Easthills have opened for?

Will == Soul Aslum | “Black Gold” | Listen & Watch

Black_Gold_(Soul_Asylum_single_-_cover_art)

Great pop rock, great lyrics.
I know I heard it in the 90s when it first came out, but I didn’t truly appreciate how good it was until I found out we were opening for them

Hank == Cheap Trick | “Hello There” | Listen & Watch

maxresdefault

This is my favorite show opener for a rock show. Not only did Cheap Trrick play it the night we opened for them but one of my other favorite bands, Guided By Voices, used to always open with it. It’s just perfect. That night with them was perfect. Their acceptance of us, bringing us out on stage with them, all of it was just crazy. That night solidified all of our efforts.

Brad == The Flaming Lips | “Are You a Hypnotist?” | Listen & Watch

Yoshimi-Battles-the-Pink-Robots

I had been listening to The Soft Bulleton and was completely blown away by the sound these guys were getting. From start to finish it was a masterpiece. Then came  Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. An unbelievable album. The story. The songs. The sound. It was unlike anything before it and since. “Are You a Hypnotist?” is the high point on the album. Wayne’s voice is on the verge of breaking and he delivers an emotion that is unexplainable. Ill never forget standing front row and taking in that show. Its like being 8 years old at a birthday party with balloons, cake, party hats, costumes and clowns on a head full of lsd and amazing music in your face.

Paul == RATT | “Round and Round” | Listen & Watch

ratt-round-and-round

I still have the orignal 45 I bought at 3D department store when it first came out in 1984. One of my favorite riffs of all time.  I also love the Eddie Van Halen inspired rhythm guitar counter melody on the verses.  Bridge is brilliant.  Great one note harmony on top-“I knew right from the beginning…” I still love it today.

*The Easthills opened for Stephen Pearcy of RATT

Wade == The Faces | “Maybe I’m Amazed” | Listen & Watch

s_faces_maybe_im_amazed

Like a lot of their best work, it sounds loose and unrehearsed, and brilliant.

*The Easthills opened for Ian McLagan of The Faces & Small Faces

Andy == REO Speedwagon | “Roll With The Changes” | Listen & Watch

This song always sounds good on the radio. The perfect blend of vocal, guitar and piano that sticks in your head. The sign of a hit is when you’re still singing it several hours later.
